  • Keep your sex life out of my paycheck!

So I haven't been on Xanga in ages.  I just have so much going on & I also admit I haven't been much in the mood to be on Xanga.  I do love it here in a way, but in a way it can be completely draining as well.  Still fighting to find my motivation on a daily basis, FB is just easier to pop on & a bit more mindless as well.
However, while on FB just now I saw something that explained how I feel on the abortion issue, in regards to public mandated health plans especially, that I just HAD to share it here.

"Being sexually active, married or single, is about deep responsibility and also deep risks. And you have to assume them ALL if you want to be sexually active. Having sex is one of the most intensely personal things a human being can do - by that logic alone this requires that only you (and your partner; where's HE in all this?) should be the ones to take the risk, answer to your OWN conscience, and not ask any other human being to compromise THEIR wallets and THEIR conscience for that intensely personal, private act. Because that is what a sexually-active life is ABOUT."

From Pro-Choice to Pro-Life (Esther 4:14) FB page.

I couldn't have said this better myself.  It is SO true.

    Woohoo! A post from you!!

And, that quote is very, very good!!!!

Wow. I agree 100%. I'm going to keep this in mind for future arguments.

Yeah, where do people get off mitigating large, sudden medical expenses in life with medical insurance?  That's just crazy.

And I hate when my insurance premium goes to pay for an abortion or birth control.  That's a few hundred dollars when I could be paying that much every time their six kids get the sniffles instead - STOP ROBBING ME.

I agree that there is a certain contradiction between the notions of having the sole right to choose, and expecting others to pay for your choice. There are a lot of issues like this surrounding abortion. While the thought of someone not paying child support seems appalling to me, i still think that it should not be legally enforced, due to the fact that the male figure does not have any say in the choice of bringing the child into this world.

I believe abortion almost entirely for two reasons: 1) It exists as a form of population control. 2) Women are treated as less than men in most realms of our society, so this is the governments way of tossing them a bone. It keeps them focused on defending this subject(especially with the assistance of front groups like Code Pink), and thereby keeping the spotlight off of the many every day issues that effect almost every woman, like unfair pay. Most women in the U.S. take far less interest in politics and leadership than men, except when it comes to abortion, and there is no substantial movement by any part of society to change this.

@agnophilo - I'd rather the kids have a chance to live, like the rest of us, and deal with paying for their sniffles. I don't look at life as a burden.

@jaydedheart - The point here was that the blog author was making a financial argument, the moral argument is another thing entirely.  And I'm sure there are pro-life insurance companies out there, which now, thanks to "obamacare" you can switch your insurance to.

Also the whole using public funds to pay for abortions thing is pretty much a myth, except in very rare instances where say someone's on medicaid and they are going to die unless the pregnancy is terminated.
