  • Keep your sex life out of my paycheck!

So I haven't been on Xanga in ages.  I just have so much going on & I also admit I haven't been much in the mood to be on Xanga.  I do love it here in a way, but in a way it can be completely draining as well.  Still fighting to find my motivation on a daily basis, FB is just easier to pop on & a bit more mindless as well.
However, while on FB just now I saw something that explained how I feel on the abortion issue, in regards to public mandated health plans especially, that I just HAD to share it here.

"Being sexually active, married or single, is about deep responsibility and also deep risks. And you have to assume them ALL if you want to be sexually active. Having sex is one of the most intensely personal things a human being can do - by that logic alone this requires that only you (and your partner; where's HE in all this?) should be the ones to take the risk, answer to your OWN conscience, and not ask any other human being to compromise THEIR wallets and THEIR conscience for that intensely personal, private act. Because that is what a sexually-active life is ABOUT."

From Pro-Choice to Pro-Life (Esther 4:14) FB page.

I couldn't have said this better myself.  It is SO true.

  • Looking forward to our "weekend."

Jim has Mondays & Tuesdays off.  So this is his weekend.  cool

I'm looking forward to going to see "Brave" with Jim & the kids tomorrow.  It looks like a good movie.  We're definitely Disney fans here in our home.

Jim told James he'd like to take the kids to the pool sometime this weekend so that should be fun.

I think we're going to make a stop off at the library as well.

And then just the general relaxing.  Oh & Jim will smoke some chicken drumsticks & breasts in the smoker tomorrow for dinner.  YUM.  I'm looking forward to it.

I'll also be applying some Neem oil to my small raised bed garden this weekend.  Evil grasshoppers have really eaten the heck out of my green bean plants.  I chose them this year instead of the pickling cucumbers I did last year because last year the cuke plants got a white, powdery something growing on them & killing them off near the end of the season.  Plus I don't have canning/pickling things & don't want to spend the $ on it right now.  So I figure green beans I can cook & eat as I harvest them.  I had no clue they were grasshopper magnets.  Dumb arse grasshoppers.

  • Kids & Medicine

So, as you've probably already read - my kids are sick.  Mild upper respiratory infections with congestion, drainage, congested ear canals as well (causing a bit of earache once or twice), cough.  And my son had pink eye in both eyes.  *sigh*
I had tonsilitis (possibly strep, didn't think to get tested) & was generally very sick for a while (chills, fever, dizziness, congested ear canals, etc).
My husband only had nausea for a few days and tossed his cookies twice - once at work near the end of his overtime shift & on the way home.  So he was lucky for the most part.

I got the Z-pack antibiotics to swallow.

The kids got the liquid antibiotics to take ONCE a day for 5 days.  And they're both at somewhat high doses for their sizes.  (They're just about 5 pounds apart so they got the same dose at ages 2 1/2 & 6!!)  What did I go & do?!  I gave it to them TWICE a day for the past 3 days & now we're basically out.  whatevah bummed  *face palm*  So I'm going to call the pharmacy tomorrow to figure out if that means they're just done early or if I need to get refills to be sure they get the stuff for another 2 days to make it 5 days as it should've been.  Either way I feel bad I gave them too much.  Thank God it isn't anything that could be more serious.
I know why I got confuzzled.  James has eye drops for his pink eye that need to be taken twice a day.  So I was just giving them their cold meds, fever meds & antibiotics twice a day as well when I did that.  *sigh*

I'm feeling much better myself now, thank God.  However - I'm still not energetic enough to get the house ALL back in order unfortunately.  That stinks.  Soon, I hope.

Also - giving my 6 year old meds is SOOOO frustrating.  A definitely test of patience.  He takes FOREVER to get it down because he's so hung on up the taste/texture.  OMG!! I've lost it on him once or twice I am embarrassed to admit.  And he's especially horrible about getting the eye drops.  Something so easy, grr!

My 2 year old daughter downs the meds like a champ. Yeah, she makes a face but she's good to go.  Just give her a drink.  She's done in seconds.  I *wish* her big brother could act more like a big boy & do that too.  Oh well.

Anyway, that's a brief update & vent on the going ons here.

  • No One Left Standing

The inevitable happened.  Jim's immune system finally succumbed to the sickness going around this house.
He was working an overtime shift but had to leave a couple of hours before finishing because he puked.  More than once.  I'll spare you any further info.  Wish I'd been spared!  *lol*

So anyway it's unknown if he'll end up going to work tomorrow.  If he does, I hope he can make it through is entire shift - we need the money.  But I understand if not, there's always sick pay.

So it's now hit everyone in the house.  Thank God that the kids seem to have it mildly.  Mostly just gunked up & the occasional coughs from them.  I, however, was knocked down & dragged through the dirt.  Could've been worse, I know - but it was still worse than I have ever been hit by any bug that I can recall.  Now, I hope Jim won't be hit as hard as I was.  Hopefully it will be mild for him as well.  (And praying the kids don't get any worse.)

Well, hoping to be better soon!

We plan to use a $25 theater gift card my son received for his birthday to see "Brave" in theaters as a family Monday.  I sure hope we're all feeling good by then! It's another few days from now so I don't see why not.  laughing
